Healthy Families is a countywide, home based parent education and support program for new parents. The program is based in the belief that every parent desires to be the best parent they can be and that healthy child development starts a chain of events that follow a child into adulthood.
Healthy Families was established in 1992 to promote positive parenting, enhance child health and development and prevent child abuse and neglect for overburdened families.
Having a baby is stressful enough, but when factors such as limited support systems, no model for healthy family life, mental health, domestic violence and substance abuse issues exist, that stress is compounded and parents are more likely to maltreat their children if they do not get help.
